      An issue that I would like to depict within my project is that of the black man stereotype commonly portrayed in media as felons, criminals, and thieves. This misconception highly influences our culture and is representative of the racial injustices occurring in the modern world. I would like to challenge this ideology by bringing forward the real human emotion of black men in America and the fear elicited by police brutality. Often times the real danger lies in the hands of those we claim to believe are the heroes of the story, the men in blue whose job is to 'save us.' Media portrayal is a key factor in creating the social dynamics within our own society. If black men are consistently portrayed as criminals, the amount of racial tensions grows. 1. Thriller 2. The thriller genre is broad and often consists of multiple overlapping genres. Common characteristics of the thriller genre are defined by moods that the film may elicit. Often times these moods created by thriller films are heightened feelings of excitement, surprise, anticipation, and suspense. The plot of thriller films keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, as the plot in this genre gradually builds up to reach the climax/pinnacle of the film. The content of thrillers often depicts a villain-driven plot in which the main characters must overcome and face. Within this 'edge of your seat' feeling viewers experience a variety of plot twists and turns within the films which adds to the suspense thrillers are known for. 3. Horror - Target audience can include any person invested in films that create a feeling of adrenalin, there are no limitations to those who primarily watch horror as it appeals to emotions ultimately applying to every human being. b. Content: The content of a horror film is created in order to elicit fear in audience members. This is done by including common themes of plot such as including the intrusion of an evil force, demons, vampires, vicious animals, serial killers etc. The genre of horror films originated from fear inducing literature by popular authors/poets such as Edgar Allen Poe and Mary Shelley. The content of the horror genre is one meant to be unsettling and its sole purpose is to ensue unwanted emotions such as terror and panic. My purpose for this blog is to discuss the genre of horror in film and its ability to convey specific emotions. My goal is to delve deeper into examples that are thoroughly representative of the genre of horror. I will also be focusing on the specific methods of production, marketing, and content that makes a film fall into this specific category. I will discuss the common tactics used in this genre to create the feeling of fear as well as the iconic examples in film history that used these specific tactics, ultimately setting the standard for the genre today.
