Hello! I have finally decided to share with you guys the rough draft of the outline for my opening scene! So far I have created this outline and vision for how I want my film opening to turn out, and I know I have to continuously and meticulously edit this draft until I reach my final product, but I am so excited to share with you what I have so far!


-Establishing shot of a shed/small house
-Cuts to P.O.V shot of one of the people in the group of individuals running in a forest
-Tracking shot of people running
-Tracking shot continues and follows to the same shed seen in the establishing shot
-Cuts to a long shot of shed
-Long shot of people running to shed "lines up" with the tracking shot previously seen
-Close up of Nicole's face covered in sweat and dirt as she sits in the shed with light shining through onto her face
-Camera tilts from Nicole sitting on the ground to Amrit sitting on top of her on the shelf above her
-Camera follows another point of view shot as it follows the noise of a loud knock on the shelf and laughing in the background
-High angle of Amrit jumping from the shelf and hiding with Nicole and the other two girls
-Cross Cutting between outside of the shed and the inside of the shed occurs here
-Midshot of two white characters serving as the antagonists
-long shot of them knocking on the shed
-Pan/close ups of 4 girls faces hiding underneath a "table"/shelf
-Cross Cuts to one of the men outside with a close up of his face screaming
-Close up of Nicole's face mouthing direction to the other girls
-Voice over slow motion inserts of the girls crying and gathering their belongings along with cross cuts of the two men banging
-The voice over describes the background as it is of a news reporting giving backstory to what is occurring in the scenario
-Slow motion shots end with a single extreme close up of Nicole's mouth screaming "RUN"

     Mise-en-scene, mise-en-scene, mis-en-scene, isn't that a mouthful? It almost sounds like a tongue twister, and it certainly can make my head fall into quite a frenzy. I have an idea on the type of color scheme I want my film to consist of, but I am uncertain as to how I can pull this off without weather interruptions or lighting issues. There is nothing bright and sunny about a race war, so the ideal outdoor environment I could possibly ask for is gloomy and overall cloudy. This being said, rain would ruin my production and would not be the ideal situation that I could be put in. I touched on this in an earlier blog posting, but ultimately I am hoping for a dull outdoor scene in order to pull together the dull colors of the rest of the film. I want my characters to be wearing dull colors as well, but I want their antagonists to be wearing brighter and noticeably cleaner apparel. This contrast should be noticeably different on screen and is meant to draw the audiences attention

     Production Design!!!! Ok so,  I'm really excited about creating my film, but deep down I know that this is the most time consuming part of my entire process and one that requires the most planning. Yet here I am attempting to create an entire dystopian society on little to no budget for this film opening. I am hoping that my characters can do the majority of the work when it comes to depicting the conflict and the clear difference from contemporary society and the future in which chaos is commonplace. To expand on the idea that I have previously mentioned in my last blog posting, the zooming in on a news report through a T.V and show the perspective of what is happening on screen in front of the man. This same ideology for horror movies has been presented before.      Hello again! As of now I believe that my filming location is going to be Markham Park near camping grounds. I am hoping to ask for filming rights and to borrow a small shed/camping ground area to serve as the "shelter" for my 4 protagonists.  However, I have also created alternative plans if this scenario does not play out as expected. Today I spent the day scouting for other potential filming locations. I visited another park fairly close to Markham Park, called Peace Mounds Park. This location is busier than Markham and does not seem necessarily convenient, but I discovered a small location of barren forest ground. The isolation of this hidden gem can act as a perfect setting for my future film opening. I have currently scheduled to film on the 27th and 28th of this month as I and my peers will be off for the break.
